The "Fire & Ice Facial": The Eminence Treatment For A Camera-Ready Complexion

Updated March 2, 2018

The spa industry often refers to it as the "Fire & Ice Facial" - but what exactly is this sought-after facial that everyone’s talking about? Using elements of heat and cold, this type of facial appears to brighten, smooth and tighten, resulting in photo-ready skin. With our natural Eminence version of the Fire & Ice Facial, you can also enjoy the gentle and organic nature of our products. This treatment is so effective that our very own company president, Boldijarre Koronczay, boasts about the benefits! In an interview with Healing Lifestyles & Spas, he comments:

My favorite [Eminence] treatment is the Fire & Ice Facial in Hawaii. This facial features a mix of hot, stimulating products like our Blueberry Detox Peel and cooling Stone Crop Masque to make the complexion glow.”

Keep reading to learn more about how you can benefit from this Eminence treatment for camera-ready skin:

How the Eminence Fire & ICE Facial Works:

The protocol for this so-called “hot and cold” facial varies from spa to spa. However, the theory behind the treatment is much the same. Heat or stimulation is applied to the skin to help increase blood flow and circulation. The warming sensation is then followed by a cold treatment with cooling products (or even ice or cold water), which helps reduce any inflammation or swelling in the skin.

Although hot and cold facials are being treated as another celebrity beauty trend, Hungarian estheticians have been incorporating hot and cold practices in their treatment rooms for centuries.

Fire & Ice Product Ingredients:

In addition to using the physical cooling and warming properties through touch, the true Fire & Ice behind an Eminence facial comes from the hot and cold characteristics of some of our products.

The FIRE:
Since the beginning, Eminence has been blending spicy ingredients into our results-oriented products like our Hungarian Herbal Mud Treatment and our Lime Stimulating Masque. Ingredients like paprika, nettle and cinnamon are added to our hot masks to stimulate the circulatory system and encourage cell turnover so new, young cells come to the surface.

The ICE:
While spicy ingredients produce the feeling of warmth, cooling ingredients such as peppermint, menthol, cucumber and tea tree can also produce an icy sensation on the skin. These ingredients help gently soften the skin while reducing the appearance of redness and inflammation. You can find peppermint, tea tree and cucumber in our Clear Skin Probiotic Masque

Eminence Organics Lime Stimulating Masque and Eminence Organics Clear Skin Probiotic Masque

Fire & Ice Through Touch:

We called on our Product Support Team to give us a quick rundown on how a Fire & Ice sensation can also be created through technique:

“The massage portion of the facial treatment involves using a cold hand and a warm product. When performing the facial, the esthetician will start by dipping one hand in a bowl of cold water (or ice cubes) and the other hand in a bowl of warm water. The esthetician will then remove both hands from the bowls of water and begin to massage the face. This contrasting hot and cold sensation will provide the client with a really unique experience - such an amazing facial!”
