4 Ways to Boost your Health and Wellness

On June 13th, the world celebrates Global Wellness Day - a day when we can all ask ourselves: “How can I live a healthier and better life?”

This question inspired us and we've decided to share 4 simple ways that you can make wellness a part of today and every day:

1. Take time to be grateful

It seems simple, but showing gratitude will make you a happier and healthier person. According to Harvard Health Publications, positive psychology studies show that “gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships”.

Quick Wellness Tip:
Start a gratitude journal to help you reflect and focus on the positives in your life. Put a notebook on your bedside table and jot down 3 things every day that you’re grateful for. For our tech-y friends out there, why not download a gratitude app.

Here at Éminence, we believe that healthy skin is a reflection of what you feed your body, inside and out. When it comes to food - we recommend healthy, local and organic sources whenever possible. Why organic? A recent study from the United Kingdom found that organic crops had significantly higher antioxidants levels than conventional crops (The Organic Center). And, by choosing organic, you’re subjecting your body to less exposure to harmful chemicals and pesticides.

When it comes to skincare, it’s just as important to be mindful about the ingredients you put on your body. As your largest organ, your skin also has the ability to absorb the thousands of harmful chemicals found in your environment and that includes the ingredients in some of your personal care products. Here at Éminence, we source premium ingredients from organic farms worldwide to ensure our products are made with fully organic ingredients. Quick Wellness Tip:
Whether you’re enjoying a bowl of organic strawberries or treating yourself to a massage, stay present in the moment. Through mindfulness, you’ll be more in tune with your senses – your strawberries will taste that much sweeter and your massage will feel even more relaxing.

3. Make exercise a part of your daily routine

We understand that fitting exercise into your busy life may not be easy - but even if you get moving at least 30 minutes a day, you’ll notice a significant improvement in your health and overall wellbeing (Mayo Clinic). The benefits of exercise go well beyond increasing muscle tone and improving cardiovascular health. Exercise can also help reduce stress, increase brain-power, boost your confidence and produce more endorphins (your body’s "happy" chemical)(

Quick Wellness Tip:
Personalize your exercise routine. Going to the gym and setting out on a 5k run isn’t for everyone, and that’s ok!  If you pick an activity that you enjoy, you’re more likely to stick to it. Yoga, dance class, bike riding ... when it comes to exercise, the possibilities are endless.

4. Get Social with Good friends

A strong social network provides support and a sense of community. In a study by the Centre for Ageing Studies at Flinders University in Australia found that individuals who have a large network of friends outlived those with the fewest friends by 22%. So why exactly are good friends great for your wellbeing? The researchers of this study suspect that good friends discourage unhealthy behaviors (such as smoking), and the companionship and support provided by friends may ward off depression and loneliness and can also help boost self-esteem (WebMd).

Quick Wellness Tip:
If you’re having trouble achieving some of your wellness goals – why not team up with a friend for support? Jogging with a friend is much more fun than jogging alone, and when you have a wellness buddy you can help motivate & encourage each other to become your better, healthier, fabulous selves!
