Healthy Skin Care With Nike Trainer Betina Gozo

When you want to be healthy, sure, think about skin care - but don't forget the whole body as well. Eminence Organics Strawberry Rhubarb DermafoliantThat’s where Portland, Oregon fitness guru Betina Gozo comes in. Not only is Betina a standout Eminence Organics fan, she’s also a Nike Master Trainer, winner of Women’s Health magazine’s Next Fitness Star 2017 and all-around high energy gal.

A trained dancer and performer, Betina realized that “nothing fulfilled her spirit more than helping others,” and she followed her dreams to become an ACE & NASM certified fitness pro. These days, her rise has taken her to Nike where she works as a Nike Training Club Master Trainer, advising on photoshoots, creating workouts and providing professional insights. She’s regularly featured on TV spots like NBC News and in magazines such as Men’s Health, plus she fits in side gigs rocking bass in her band!

Watch our Facebook Live broadcast with Betina where we chatted about her favorite products, including Eminence Organics Stone Crop Cleansing Oil, Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant and Lavender Age Corrective Night Concentrate.

We were very excited to sit down with Betina again to ask for her health and skin care tips, including questions like whether she thinks sweating is good for the skin!

How would you describe yourself in 1 sentence?

Spunky!

How did you get to where you are today?

My mom was a single mom, and we came to the United States when I was only 2 years old. I attribute a lot of the hard work ethic I have to the struggles we had as I was growing up and watching how hard my mom worked to give me a good life. My mantra in life is pretty simple: “Work Hard, Stay Humble, Be Nice to People, and Stick Up for Yourself and Others” (I’ve added the last one in the past few years because I realized how important it was to not get walked on!).

Tell me about a typical day for you - from morning alarm to lights out?

A typical day in Portland would be like this:

I wake up around 4:45AM (I know, ew, gross! But I don’t mind it). I don’t usually shower since I am going to train people, but I splash water on my face and start my Eminence Organics skin care routine.

After that, I make my way to my office and meditate for 15 minutes - I always like to start the day with that time for myself and my mind.

I make it to my gym just after 6AM and coach a few classes and clients. That’s usually one of my favorite parts of my day! After that, I get my workout done, then go home or head to Nike World Headquarters for meetings.

The days are never the same, but I usually aim to be home around 4 or 5PM to wind down for dinner around 6. After dinner, I usually reflect on the day and mentally prepare for what the next day is, and am in bed before 10PM! Of course, after I go through my Eminence Organic Skin Care night routine!

What is your post-workout skin care routine? Eminence Organics Stone Crop Cleansing Oil

After I work out, if I don’t have time to get a full shower in, I’ll wash my face with Eminence Organics Stone Crop Cleansing Oil, then a little bit of Calendula Oil to keep my skin moisturized. If I’m going out before the sun goes down, I’ll put on Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF32!

Do you wear makeup when you exercise?

I’ll wear it if it’s a light layer, which is what I typically wear on a daily basis since I’m usually with clients all day and may get sweaty! If it’s on a day that I have a shoot or an appearance, I will likely have way more makeup on, so I’ll just do a quick wash with Eminence Organics Stone Crop Cleansing Oil to get the thickness of the makeup off - no one wants to see my runny mascara and foundation when I’m swinging around weights or running sprints!

Do you feel like a good sweat is beneficial for your skin?

Yes!  It increases blood flow and opens up your pores - just don’t forget to wash off after!

What are all the things that you do to stay healthy - body and mind?

On mental health: A newer thing I took up just two years ago was meditation - it has been such a game changer for me. It has helped me stay more grounded, less reactive and just overall more present and happy! It has helped me with the rest of my overall holistic health, too.

On food: I have used meditation to help me not put too much pressure on myself, so I can enjoy a naughty treat here or there! For the most part, though I eat organic fruits and vegetables and non-GMO food, and I eat to fuel my body, not fill it up with junk!

On fitness: Obviously, working out and fitness are very important to me, too! Most people expect me to be one of those people who works out two times a day every single day, but that’s not me! I typically only get about 45 minutes in max, and I enjoy my rest days! It’s very rare that I work out for more than an hour a day. I also do a lot of yoga and mobility work because of all the stress I put on my body.

What’s your #1 insider tip for health and wellness?

When building healthy habits - whether it be working out, eating healthy or taking care of your skin -start small and simple. You’ll be able to celebrate those small victories (which are so good for your soul!), then start to build from there!

If you were to move to a deserted island, what would you bring with you?

Obviously Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF32! I’d bring a journal and a lot of pens because I will probably lose them. Sandbag weights (the ones you can fill up and empty easily!).

What is it about Eminence Organics and our products that you love so much?

There is so much to love! The products speak for themselves with how great they work and how they are made with natural, organic and Biodynamic® ingredients. And the fact that they smell good is just the icing on the cake!

I really value how I take care of myself, and I want it to be a lifestyle and a positive obligation. Eminence makes me feel like I can do this with their products. I fell in love with the products first, but then I became enamored with the company when I heard about the story and mission behind the brand, and about the Eminence Kids Foundation
