The Power Of 10 Million Trees: Forests For The Future™

Did you know that every time you purchase an Eminence Organic Skin Care product, we plant a tree in a developing country? Through our Forests For The Future™  initiative, and in collaboration with award-winning tree planting organization Trees For The Future, we have planted over 10 million trees in 22 countries worldwide!

The Impact Of Forests For The Future™

10 million trees have a powerful impact. Eminence Organics and Trees For The Future have provided more than 284 families in Koungheul, Senegal with the education and tools to build their own tree nurseries, called Forest Gardens. Forest Garden Projects empower these families to restore the environment, grow their own crops and increase their income by up to 400%. Here is a closer look at how our tree planting has benefited families in Koungheul.

A Spotlight On Two Forest Garden Families

Bakary Camara

Team leads like Bakary Camara are essential to a Forest Garden’s success. Bakary has been Koungheul’s Lead Technician since 2015, working on site to train other farmers and monitor their progress. With his help, more than 80,000 participants at 250 sites are taught the most up-to-date agroforestry techniques to support the success of their Forest Gardens.Forest Garden Farmer Bakary Camara

Before the implementation of the program, Bakary bought all of his produce at local food markets. Now, with the proceeds from selling his own fruits and vegetables, he is able to buy food for his family and pay school fees for his children. His latest harvest included: onion, cabbage, lettuce, eggplant and chili peppers.

Babacar Sarr

Babacar Sarr is 55 years old and lives with his wife and nine children in Koungheul. Over his three years spent in the Forest Garden program, Babacar's food expenses have decreased and his technical farming knowledge has drastically improved. Prior to the program, Babacar practiced monocropping, which put him at high risk to lose his harvest and produced an insufficient yield to meet his family’s needs.Forest Garden Farmer Babacar Sarr

Now, Babacar farms a diverse range of fruits and vegetables all year round, including mango, guava, eggplant and tomatoes. With the extra income from his crop sales, Babacar is able to purchase school supplies, cover medical expenses and offer his family food security. He has even implemented an irrigation system to water his garden in the evenings, affording him more time to spend with his family.

The work we do in collaboration with Trees For The Future is very important to us as a green company and Certified B Corporation™. To learn more about our Forests For The Future™  Initiative, read Trees For The Future’s interview with Eminence Organics General Manager, Attila Koronczay.
