Music, friends and fun in the sun – what’s not to love about summer music festivals? Although this wonderful combo sounds pretty perfect, there’s another side of music festivals you may not be stoked about. We’re talking intense heat, sweaty crowds and questionable outdoor “facilities”.
If you want a festival experience that's delightful - not disgusting - here's a rundown on 4 things you need to do:
1. Cleanse, TONE & Sanitize:
Unfortunately, outhouses don’t come with sinks, soap and neatly folded hand towels. If washing your hands post-bathroom break isn't an option, we have the next best thing: our Tea Tree and Mint Hand Cleanser. This chemical-free cleanser zaps away germs and leaves your hands moisturized and minty fresh.
After sweaty days and sleepless nights, your skin might be feeling a little grimy, dull and worse for wear. We suggest keeping your skin fresh and cleansed with our Birch Water Purifying Essence which will wash away surface impurities - no running water required.
Toners are also a great way to refresh and hydrate your skin while you're on the move. Refinery29 suggests our Rosehip Tonique - "...if you spray it on your face, the skin is immediately moisturized”.
Speaking of water - make sure you get plenty of it.
“Dehydration can leave your skin looking dull and your hair going limp. Have at least one glass of water for every two alcoholic drinks you consume to keep your complexion glowing and fresh over the few days,” suggests Hello Magazine.
3. Wear your SPF:
Sporting a burn is uncomfortable, painful and not so pleasant to look at. Most importantly, sunburn (or even a tan) also means you’re putting yourself at risk for skin cancer. Lucky for you, we have three SPF products that will do much more than just protect your skin from harmful UV rays:
For total body protection:
Health and Wellness Magazine suggests that you start with our Tropical Vanilla Body SPF 32 - “This superb sunscreen contains herbal ingredients specifically designed for the entire body. Hydrating and revitalizing shea butter combines with the fragrant aroma of vanilla. Suitable for all skin types. Get out there and have some fun!”
For the face:
Apply one of our tinted moisturizers over top of your Tropical Vanilla Body SPF 32 for extra coverage and hydration. This summer's must-have provides an SPF of 25 and is available in three different shades (Vanilla Latte, Caramel Latte & Cocoa Latte).
For extra coverage:
Bronze the sun-safe way with our Sun Defense Minerals - Cinnamon Bronzer. This nifty bronzer provides water-resistant SPF 30 sun protection and comes in a convenient tube with a brush, so you can apply while you’re on the move. Not into bronzing? Not to worry: “The powder tackles shine and comes in multiple shades, so you can wear it in place of foundation” says Best Health Magazine.
Quick tips: Sun Defense Minerals doubles as a dry shampoo; dust your roots and hairline for absorption of extra oil. Men can also apply the powder to any exposed areas of the noggin for additional sun protection.
4. Go Easy on the makeup:
When it comes to festival makeup - less is better. According to Glamour Magazine – “this season is more about sophisticated; championing fresh skin and low-key up-dos made pretty with fresh cut flowers and sparkly accessories”. Even gorgeous celebs like Diane Kruger, Kendall Jenner and Kate Bosworth are “lighting up the festival fields with relaxed waves, mini braids and minimal make-up”.
We suggest adding a touch of lip color for a subtle, natural look. Our Organic Kiss Lip Gloss - Strawberry Kiss will nourish and hydrate your lips while add a pretty pink shimmer for the perfect festival pout.
